One issue is that the discussions are off-record. It makes it
impossible to determine whether the problem(s) being discussed can be solved.

I have argued for looking at how the .mu ccTLD will be like in over
five years. I don't think that it is productive to adopt a
short-term approach.

According to the minutes of a meeting about the .mu ccTLD the policy
of the government is that it would like to see the .mu ccTLD re-delegated.

The Mauritius Internet Users has been invited to contribute to the
discussions about the .mu issues. There is a little progress. I
personally do not think that the Association des Consommateurs would
be able to do more than that as it may not have members who are
familiar with the .mu issues.

I will be proposing changes to that proposal in response to the
discussions during the second .mu Select Committee meeting. The
proposal will be submitted to the Chairperson of the Multistakeholder Forum.

It seems that there is some confusion as the word "proprietaire" is
being used in discussions about the .mu ccTLD. The current proposal
of the .mu Select Committee does not recommend paying any money to
the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) or any other entity.

IANA is based on a contract issued by the United States
Government. There isn't any international organisation involved.

The government has a representative participating in the .mu Select
Committee. In addition, I have sent emails to the Ministry of
Technology, Communication and Innovation about those discussions.

I probably won't be able to create a presentation before two weeks as
I committed to work on a .mu proposal and have it ready within a week.
I'll summarize the situation as follows:
1. The .mu ccTLD is currently controlled by a company known as
Internet Direct Ltd.
2. The representatives of the Internet Service Providers in,
Mauritius, the Mauritius IT Industry Association, the
Mauritius Bankers Association, the Government or Mauritius,
and the Mauritius Internet Users agree that there is a
problem with .mu.
3. The .mu registrars did not agree about whether there is a
problem with .mu
4. In one or two weeks the .mu Select Committee will likely recommend that
a not-for-profit organisation takes responsibility for the operational
aspects of the .mu ccTLD.

The Mauritius Internet Users does not write petitions. It take
decisions based on consensus; the representative discusses about
those decisions with the government and/or other organisations. It
is assumed that the government would like to see us happy and that
the organisations would like to see their customers happy. :-)
