I was doing some research about .mu domains and a very interesting thing I
found is that some companies are using .mu domains for music-related
websites (e.g planet.mu which is a UK-based record label) [1].
I was wondering about the implications of using a .mu domain for an
international service. Apart from the obvious seo implications, will a .mu
domain:
1. make the user (outside of Mauritius) feel that this website is meant
only for the Mauritian public?
2. maybe show Mauritius as a startup hub in the indian ocean (even if
its not necessarily true, I'm referring to the perception of users)
3. give confidence to users that the website is trustworthy (other
things might also come into play like ssl certificates, etc.)
