Dear Sir/Madam,
I am contacting the National Computer Board as it is the data
controller for the www.govmu.org web site. I did a some research and
I found out that a data controller is the person or persons making "a
decision with regard to the purposes for which and in the manner in
which any personal data are, or are to be, processed". I would be
grateful if the person(s) could provide a reply to the following
comments in a timely manner.
The Privacy Policy for www.govmu.org states [1] that:
"If the Government Online Portal requests you to provide personal
information,
you will be informed of the particular purposes for which that
information is
collected, used and/or disclosed."
The "Sign up" form at
https://www.govmu.org/English/Pages/SignUp.aspx
requires the person to provide information about "Marital
Status". What is the purpose for which that information is collected and used?
The "Sign up" form also requires a "NIC Number". What is the purpose
for which that information is collected and used?
The "CAPTCHA" on the form requires the person to agree to the privacy
policy and terms of service of a company which is not located in
Mauritius. Why is that a requirement?
The Privacy Policy also states that:
"Cookies are pieces of information generated by a web server and stored in
the user's computer, ready for future access. Cookies make use of
user-specific information transmitted by the web server onto the user's
computer so that the information might be available for later access by
itself or other servers."
Why is one of the cookies for
https://www.govmu.org/English/E-Services/Pages/default.aspx being
sent to
https://platform.twitter.com ? Could you please provide some
information about the cookies used by www.govmu.org?
Regards,
S. Moonesamy
