Hello,

I read on defimedia.info[1] that the Executive Director of the
Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) of
Mauritius, Dr. Krishna Oolun was suspended. Apparently a Fraud
Tracking System that cost ICTA $ 2M has never been used. An
investigation is under process.

I recall during the .mu Multi-Stakeholder Forum, representatives from
ICTA mentioned hiring a foreign expert as consultant and ICTA would
bear the costs. SM and I frowned at the idea and we voiced out our
disapproval of hiring any foreign expertise as that would equate to a
waste of tax-payers money. I still recall the reaction of many people
at the the expense of tax-payers money being like a petty matter.

Frankly, I deplore this attitude in public institutions and hopefully
this news about $ 2M wastage would send a strong signal.
