Re: National Internet Filtering System
Dear Dr Oolun,
I am the representative of the Mauritius Internet Users on the
"National Internet Filtering System" issue. Please refer to the
letter from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority
with reference ICTA/ED/May-15/04.
The Mauritius Internet Users would like to raise a strong objection
to the letter as it may intimidate internet users in Mauritius and
discourage them from expressing their concerns in matters related to
the internet in Mauritius.
The information about the consultation in the letter is:
"This project was preceded by a series of discussions and dialogues with
various stakeholders namely the Data Protection Office, Ombudsperson
for Children, the Internet Service Providers, the Police, the media
and representatives of consumer organisations".
The Mauritius Internet Users would be grateful if it could be
provided with the procedures which the Information and Communication
Technologies Authority follow for public consultations.
Regards,
S. Moonesamy
