Hi Avinash,

I am contacting you as you are the Chair of the
ICT Advisory Council. Mr Sookun wrote the
following email about the "National Internet Filtering System":

There has been some discussion on the Mauritius
Internet Users mailing list about this "National
Internet Filtering System". I assume that you
might understand the concern of internet users as
you wrote a blog article about "Facebook: A
Mauritian tragedy?" [1] and you made the following comments:

"And let’s not talk about the ISPs who chickened out. They have a contract
with us and they failed to do their “best effort” to serve us. Pathetic."

"there is a lack of national strategy and direction at many levels in our
    country."

There wasn't any response from the Information
and Communication Technologies Authority about
the "National Internet Filtering System".

In October 2014, the Internet Service Providers
in Mauritius were requested to make a change to
their DNS servers. There was an article in a
local newspaper about that [2]. Internet users
in Mauritius were kept in the dark about those internet "incidents".

Is the ICT Advisory Council concerned about this
"National Internet Filtering System" and the lack
of response from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority?

S. Moonesamy
