Hello guys!

Well, let me clear some issues here. First, I didn’t know that the organizing team did change in 2014 and 2015 only after you said it Vincent. I apologize for saying that too quickly.

From what I know, (Not hearsay [1]) there have been some issues with the 2014 team too, but don’t know exactly the causes.

The next thing is about the sponsors and the entrance fees we had to pay. We all had to be pay Rs 1500 per member, meaning 4 person per group (1500 x 4 = 6000 x 13 groups = Rs 78,000) I believe the amount collected was used to pay the internet, location etc. I take back what I said about “It’s about sponsorship & money”

“pitching your project in front of judges is a skill that many developers need to grow for their career.” — I’m not saying that I am that professional full-stack web developer but I think I have the required competency to work this out. The issue in 2013 was with the “Assessment Skills” of the juries, the juries just visually looked at the website front-end, meaning nothing at the back-end level of the website developed even if you spent 24 hours to develop a fully functional system which can be shipped right away to a client who was willing to pay 100K for that. The juries looked unfamiliar and not even from the “Core Web Development” industry. This is where the main problem is.

I agree on the fact that WebCup is reserved for the young developers out there, who want to test their skills on a national level.

_at_SM: The above comment can be categorized as gossip. Can you provide some information so that a person can verify what is written above? — I did sent an email to the organizing team of 2013 to tell them of the current state of affairs and he himself was quite surprise of my blog post. (Eric Goazé -> https://www.facebook.com/eric.gouaze?fref=ts) He said he will consider the points enumerated but never reverted back to me :)

To end, WebCup is a good national competition but not for experienced web developers.

He is free to make modifications whenever he want.

(Nirvan, Did I ask you to amend that article ?)

The fact remains that this article was first published on the 4th June of 2013 :-)

I was simply proposing help concerning how to factor security into a contract to a client :-) I was working in Mauritius, when this happened :-)
