Hello,

There is a draft from the .mu Select Committee about a proposed .mu
framework. One of the actions proposed is to set up a legal entity which is:

  (a) Neutral
  (b) Non-profit
  (c) Member-driven

There has been comments on this mailing list about (b). The
discussion between Ish Sookun and Loganaden Velvindron was about
whether the expenses of a board member of the entity would be paid by
the entity or whether the board member would paid for his/her
work. There was a comment from Chittra about "who will work without
money?". Benoit Gentil, Ish Sookun, Loganaden Velvindron and Nadim
Attari are in favour of having a legal entity which is non-profit
organisation. The arguments for a not-for-profit is that the entity
it would not be viewed favourably if a monopoly is given to a
for-profit company. Chittra is in favour of having a legal entity
which is similar to Orange (Mauritius) as it is a profitable company
and it is growing.
