Fwd: .mu update

Dear Mr Praidy,

I am part of the the Mauritius Internet Users, which is a group
contributing to the .mu discussion.

I have heard of the proposal to involve a foreign consultant in the
process. I have outlined my strong disagreement:

That would be an expensive process, and realistically, the chances of
it succeeding are as high as the last time that It was attempted. i.e
very low.

There are people who are aware of how IANA and DNS work in Mauritius,
and I don't see any good reason as to why we shouldn't have those
people in charge of driving this through. In fact, I think that so
far, we made more progress than when foreign consultants were brought
in.

I am aware that we have a trusted community representative selected by
IANA who is living in Mauritius, and who is already heavily involved
in moving this project forward.

I don't see any reason to add a foreign expertise into the matter,
because that would make the latter person redundant.

Also, how can we be sure that the foreign consultant is working in the
National interest, given the recent events surrounding Massive
Internet Surveillance.
