Dear Ms Ntshingila-Njeke,

The Information and Communication Technologies
Authority (ICTA) published a consultation paper
on proposed amendments to the Information and
Communication Technologies Act on 14 April. The
purpose of the amendments is for regulating the
use and addressing the abuse and misuse of Social Media in Mauritius.

On 13 May, the Information and Communication
Technologies Authority [1] issued a press release
in which there is the following sentence: "L’ICTA
est toujours en attente des commentaires de
Facebook dont l’avis a été demandé". The English
translation is: the ICTA requested advice from
Facebook and is waiting for Facebook to reply.

Would it be possible for you to confirm whether
the Information and Communication Technologies
Authority (Mauritius) contacted Facebook for
advice on the proposed Internet regulation in Mauritius?

Regards,
S. Moonesamy
