28MB on the front page alone? That is impressive in a weird way.

I agree: the front page should show at most two items per category or
ideally
one main item with plain-text links to 2 or 3 more items.

There is a clear intent to show as many ads on the front page as possible,
whereas showing interesting titles that drive users to article pages where
they are exposed to adverts might be more effective.
