The Mauritius Internet Users (MIU) supported me when the ex-Director of
the ICT Authority, Dr Krishna Oolun, tried to stop me with a legal
tantrum while I questioned the authority about "internet filtering in
Mauritius".

The Mauritius Internet Users participated in the Open Data Readiness
Assessment (ODRA) by the World Bank, and there was a positive engagement
with the officers. SM spoke to Weekly magazine as a representative of
the Mauritius Internet Users while there were several questions on
people's mouth as to what the ministry intends to do with Facebook.

Members of the Mauritius Internet Users question Internet Service
Providers, the Ministry of Technology, Communication & Innovation, the
Data Protection Office etc.

I would say the group is an effective one.

There would not be much pressure on the ministry to move forward with
the .mu Multi-Stakeholder forum if only one group questions about the
status. Other groups such as the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce &
Industry (MCCI), the Mauritius Bankers Association (MBA), the Internet
Society - Mauritius Chapter (ISOC-MU) etc appear to stay mum on the
situation. Is the Mauritius Internet Users, the only group affected by a
.mu issue?

That is precisely why I mentioned any conflict of interest should be
notified.
