The discussion highlighted some misconceptions about email. The Post
Office uses "gmail.com" email addresses [1]. There are companies in
Mauritius which use "gmail.com", "yahoo.com" or "hotmail.com" for
work. Personal email addresses are also used at universities in
Mauritius [2][3][4]. Is email being used as it should in Mauritius?
The result of lack of knowledge about IPR is that a student who
creates software would not know what to do if his/her work is taken
without permission. The student might not know whether it is
appropriate or not to copy something from the web for an assignment
or a competition. There was a comment about "the law". The person
did not provide any information to help others verify what is written
in that law.
In some countries a person can get a discount if he/she uses a
university email address. Why isn't that privilege available in Mauritius?
