The disadvantage with IMAP is that the synching speed is slow if you
do not have a good connection to the server, e.g. server outside
Mauritius. The advantage is that you can access your email from
multiple computers. You can use IMAP to only retrieve the headers of
the email messages. That is faster than if you want to take a quick
look at a large messages. POP3 is used when you want to keep your
emails on your computer instead of the server.
