Resolution on Big Data

Dear Sir/Madam,

One of the results of the 36th International Conference of Data
Protection and Privacy Commissioners was a resolution on "Big
Data". The 2014 Resolution stated the following:

   "To be transparent about which data is collected, how the data is processed,
    for which purposes it will be used and whether or not the data will be
    distributed to third parties."

Several newspapers in Mauritius featured a "data capture" at the
Baie-du-Jacotet cable landing station. Is the 2014 Resolution
relevant to the "data capture" at Baie-du-Jacotet?
