Hi Ish,
I'll disclose that I am affiliated with AFRINIC, which allocates IP
addresses to Internet Service Providers in Mauritius.
I read the article about what is a network sniffer:
https://sysadmin-journal.com/what-is-a-network-sniffer/ I see that
you tried to walk the audience through the basics, e.g. IP addresses,
network packets, etc. I suggest looking into whether the "trailer"
part is accurate.
There speculation about the meaning of "third-party" was addressed in
the latest press articles about "sniffing". The following conclusion is odd:
"That approach would not have given MT employees access to your email
messages, listen to your WhatsApp calls or read your Facebook messages,
etc. It would have allowed the tool to reconstruct your browsing
history partly."
Is there a mistake in the first sentence?
There are three questions at the end of the article. The choices to
reply to the first question is generally either yes or no. I was a
bit puzzled about the comments in the press with respect to the
second question. I suggest analyzing the reply to the third question
from a security perspective.
Regards,
S. Moonesamy
