In my opinion this group should not favor friends and family or be a
group in which the opportunities are kept for the same persons. Only
a few persons in the group are interested in the topic of
start-ups. I don't think that Shelly is one of those persons.
:-) It seems that you are underestimating your skills. :-)

The person managing an event can ask for help from the group. He/she
will not be blamed if nobody volunteers to help. You do not have to
be in front of the camera as you get to decide whether there will be
a camera or not. I agree that it would be a good idea to wait for
the end of February. The last event was organized hastily due to
very unusual circumstances. The few events which have been organized
required several weeks of preparation. My advice is not to try to
have an event within a week as it is exhausting.

I like the idea which you suggested above. I would advise against
setting it as a marketing event or else it will be seen as favoring
one company over the other companies. A little promotion is okay
though as a way to thank the company for its help. The events which
have been previously organized are zero-funded events.

I received a suggestion for the topic of the follow-up on
start-ups. You get to decide on whether to use the suggested topic
or not. The conference which was organized last year attracted an
audience of university students who either did not understand or were
not interested in the topics. My suggestion to an embassy was not to
target such an audience.

I suggest thinking about whether this is an opportunity and decide. :-)

S. Moonesamy
