Even if groups operating on an informal basis are more effective, I cannot
say that MIU have been effective. Simply because we have achieved nothing
till yet, although many interesting topics have been tossed.

One of the objective of MIU is to have internet with a local bandwidth of
100Mbps. No one will take us seriously, unless we have a legal entity /
association pushing forward this initiative.

Another thing MIU was in was the .mu issue. Where are we with it?

BTW, how did MIU get the invite for the Open Data workshop some months
back? Was MIU that popular then?

The association should be to make internet better in Mauritius. The
(executive) members should not be affiliated to any political party nor
should he/she be here to push forward the agenda of a political party.
He/she should not be here to lobby for a company either. He/she should not
be here to make money (e.g. get a salary) - he may be compensated though
(transport, etc). Anyone misusing the funds should bear the cost
himself/herself.
